New Chess Club in Belfast
New chess club starting in Belfast- all ages and abilities welcome. Location: Morton Community Centre, Lorne St Time: Wednesday evenings, 6-9
The Ulster Masters 2022 will be held at Lisburn Chess Club
This years Ulster Masters will have 5 rounds. One on friday evening 11th Nov and two each on Saturday 12th, Sunday 13th Nov. Allowing a slow time control of 90mins + 30secs increments.
Downpatrick Rapid - 17th September 2022
The NI Rapidplay Grand Prix continued with the Downpatrick Rapidplay 17th Sept. So far, 40 players have competed in the NI Rapid Grand Prix. 10 events in total. After the first two tournaments, Richard Morrow leads the top section and Paul O’Connor leads the junior section.

Roaming Knights in North Belfast will celebrate its one year anniversary with a special chess cake and afternoon rapid tournament on Saturday 22nd October at Duncairn Arts Centre on the Antrim Road. Check-in at 1:30pm, ending at 4:30pm. Spectators welcome.

The Strand Rapid Championship was held on Friday 23rd September 2022.

Another brilliant opportunity to play chess. Organised by Bangor Chess Club’s Becca McClurg (Chair) and Richard McClean (Equipment Secretary) Tuesdays 6-9pm at Geek Retreat.
Belfast hosted the UK Blitz Qualifier on Sunday 4th Sept.
We had players of all levels playing in an all-play-all Blitz tournament. With the prize being qualification into the UK Open Blitz Championhips. Belfast was one of 8 qualifying tournaments across the UK.
The Ulster Championships were held over the August Bank Holiday 2022
With the excellent venue of Queens University, South Dinning Hall. Some 38 players battled to see who would be this years Ulster Champions. The top tournament in the Ulster Chess Union Calender.
The Summer Tournament Scores after 18 weeks of games
With just 2 weeks of the tournment remaining. The 3rd Week being the fun quickplay tournament and prize-giving. How do players % stand?
Dates for this years series of Scholastic Chess at Methodist College
Startng with the LJCC - London Junior Chess Qualifier on Sat Oct 1st we have one tournament a month leading to the June award ceremony and Elite tournament hopefully to be held at Stormont.

UCU Summer School places/British Blitz Belfast Qualifier/Ulster Championships (inc. Entry list)
There are still a few places for the UCU Summer School Weds 10th, Thurs 11th, Fri 12th August. The UK Blitz Open Belfast Qualifier is on Sunday 4th Sept. The Ulster Championships are on 27th/28th/29th August at QUB - Current entry list. We have Thomas Donaldson playing in the British Championships starting 13th August.
FIDE U1800 Newry Summer Classic - Sunday 14th August
Some 32 players gathered in Newry at the Sticky Fingers Art Centre to play in the FIDE rated event organised by Brendan Jamison.
NI RAPID GRAND PRIX - FIDE RATED
During the 2022/2023 season, Northern Ireland will host ten FIDE rated tournaments in an exciting Rapid Grand Prix. At the end of the season, the Rapid Grand Prix champion will be awarded a special engraved cup.
