    <description>Five young Newcastle lads have become all-Ireland chess champions. They swept to victory in the finals of the Community Games chess championships held at Mosney, bringing the cup North for the first time.</description>
    <content:encoded xmlns:content="http://purl.org/rss/1.0/modules/content/"><![CDATA[<p>Five young Newcastle lads have become all-Ireland chess champions. They swept to victory in the finals of the Community Games chess championships held at Mosney, bringing the cup North for the first time.</p>
<p>The winning team pictured above, are (from left) Niall Campbell, (13), Patrick Carton (12), Dara Carton (10), Philip Moclair (13) and Niall Carton (14) who was captain.</p>
<p>After winning the Ulster section the boys went on to beat Kildare for Leinster, Cork for Munster and Castlebar, for Connaught.</p>
<p>Dara and Niall are brothers and last night their father Pat said he was very pleased at his sons' victory.</p>
<p>"There is no competition for them round here anymore," he said. "Niall is Ulster Schools Champion and captain of the inter-provincial team, so he has done very well so far."</p>
