Robert Lavery won the first of this season's best game prizes at the BSCC Open thanks to an exchange sacrifice against Bobby Thompson.

The prize for the best game from the pre-Christmas portion of this season's Belfast South Chess Club Open was awarded to Robert Lavery for his Round 6 performance against Bobby Thompson. Lavery built up a strong centre in the opening and found an exchange sacrifice to exploit his opponent's inadequate attempts to neuter it.
