M.C.B Chess 2004/2005
Over the past two years the Methodist College chess club has enjoyed remarkable success in both team and individual competitions. The highlight was perhaps the team’s winning of the All Ireland College’s Under 19 Championship in Dublin in 2004.
The Civil Service Summer Tournament
This senior competition takes the format of a flexible tournament between April and September.
Ananda Srinivasan completed the tournament with a series of victories to finish in first place with 77% after scoring 8.5 points from 11 games. In doing so, he became the first schoolboy since Methody’s Gareth Lewis in 1994 to win the highly valued Hammel Cup.
