The inaugural Lumen Christi College Secondary Schools Tournament was held in Londonderry in early April of 2005. The thirty- player tournament was not separated into age groups in order to allow players of all secondary school age to compete for first place and the accompanying £250 prize.

Chris Millar won the tournament with 5.5 points from 6. After drawing in the second round, he won four consecutive games to finish first by half a point after beating and overtaking the leader, Leon Hulleman, in the final round. Methody’s Ananda Srinivasan and Frank Wu also performed exceptionally well. Each gained 4.5 points from 6 to share the prize for the best Under 14 player.
