January 2006 Northern Bank Childrens Chess
Saturday afternoon schools chess, again sponsored by the Northern Bank Social Club, returned for its fifth season at Belfast Inst. on the 21st January 2006.
Tournament
A total of 40 young chess players from the ages of 7 to 14 competed. The competition is jointly organised by the Ulster Schools Chess Council and the Ulster Chess Union and the next event in the series is also at Belfast Inst. on the 18th February 2006.
There was also a problem solving competition. Leon Hulleman won the Senior event while Aran O'Hare won the Junior with Chaoyang Wang the runner-up.
